In this video I show one of my favorite Spider Guard passes.
It's very important that you keep your center of gravity low and squat with your legs. Squatting with your legs will help mitigate your opponent's control over your arms and also keep your weight back so that you do not get pulled over top of your opponent.
There are a LOT of different ways to pass after you have broken that grip. I just so how to step to the outside and then back around to the back. You can also stay on the same side and pin the knee, or pull the other leg into a leg drag, it's really just up to you and your passing style/or abilities.
It is all about dictating where the match goes and not letting your opponent have his/her grips.
